Library day
oh, library day! The day my patience is tested and my pride is wounded. The boys have so much fun, swinging on the clubhouse, running around the isles, pulling books off shelves, and moving the mice to wake the computers! I guess I need to realize that for a boy's eye the tables must be there to crawl under, the clubhouse does have rungs like a ladder, the isles do make for a fun run, and we do love books.
I'm sure I loved to do all those things too at 3 and 18 months!

Children's museum revisited
We had lots of fun at the children's museum. We took an art class while we were there. The mom's weren't all that impressed, but the kids had fun, well mostly. For Zack the torture began when he was asked to wear a smock! That was not happening... Then the whole put your hand in the plaster while they push your hand into it definately did not appeal to him. Although, he did want to paint the unmarked clay disc. Sammy and Emma had footprints made. Maddie put her hand in the plaster for her handprint and enjoyed painting it as well.I realized later Zack would have prefered painting the car outside just as much as that $4 clay disc! oh, well, you live and learn!

Drought
Apparently, due to the drought the rattlesnakes and coral snakes are venturing out into neighborhoods and in the city. One of the men in our church was bitten by a rattlesnake Sunday night and is in ICU. There was also a case of a rattlesnake at an apartment complex in the city. The city has been put on rattlesnake and coral snake alert! Considering the boys love snakes and love to be outside, we will have to be extra vigilant.

our neighbors

We had a nice walk this afternoon and wanted to share some the things we liked with you. The giant excavator is the highlight of our walks. Sammy was very upset when we passed it without saying goodbye. Then the boys fought about what it was. Zack was correct-it is an excavator and sammy just calls all big machines a baho (backhoe). The lake is a street back from our house. There is usually a good bit of activity on the lake on the weekends. Unfortunately it is all private property so we can't actually get to the lake, but we enjoy the scenery. Of course the goats are probably the most exciting part of our walk.

the Zoo

we went to the Zoo and had a blast. It was so nice and the boys loved to see all the animals. Zack says his favorite animal was the "Big Snake". We saw them feeding mice to the Condors. They were huge birds and the lady who fed them had a guard who carried a large shield to protect them while she cleaned. It was partly cloudy and no crowds. So it was just a perfect time to go.
Look at the Flicker link for more picts at the Zoo.

Cupcake
Today we made cupcakes. I bought a tub of the "Funfetti" vanilla frosting that has sprinkles and Zack frosted and sprinkled his cup cakes.
Z: I just like cupcakes. they are so good. You are a good gwirl, momma. (girl) I am just so happy.
Note: gwirl rhymes with squirrel
Sammy now says: cupcake!

Landa Park

We went to feed the ducks and were instead attacked by the geese. We found ourselves surrounded by a pack of honking, hungry geese. The boys were both frightened and I was not very comfortable at how close they were. Apparently they are not shy about people and they know what bread bags mean! We were not prepared for our welcome. However, we were able to back up to the car and get them in front of us. We were all a little bit more acclimated, Zack even had one eating out of his hand, well let's rephrase that, he did not cry when the goose snached bread from his fingers! After the bread was exhausted, we went for a dip in the wading area. The wading area had been packed the past few times we went, but today we had the whole area all to ourselves. It was so nice to get in the cool water. Sammy thought it was too cold. But after a while he enjoyed almost as much as Zack. Zack hopped right in and said he was having his bath.

Sammy the turtle

T saved a turtle from the road by our house so the boys enjoyed a pet turtle this afternoon. Zack decided it's name should be Sammy.
Zack really enjoyed walking Sammy... yes he thought the turtle would follow him and when the turtle was going the "wrong way" he would correct it's path and say "you just need to come this way". He and Daddy let the turtle go home tonight so it could be with his family and not be sad.
