A date?

T and I are going to go out tonight. His class finished their training and will be splitting off into different tracks. This evening they have Track Select where they announce who will be training on what type of airplane: fighter/ heavy/helicopter/ c-130. I found a babysitter, so we should be able to go out to eat and make a date out of this. I'm guessing this will be the last time that we will get a chance to go out(for a little while anyway!)

Yeah, Zack

I am very happy to announce that Zack had a very fun and good day at VBS. His teacher said he didn't cry--just a little sad when I left story time. Then when he came to crafts he was all smiles and was actually playing with another boy in the class. He colored and decorated his craft. Two things that he would not do in previous days. Also he said his Bible verse to Ms. Gloria and was able to get some candy. (he said his verse the other day with me by him.)

It just takes him some time to warm up to new situations and new people.

VBS

Well for those that know Zack, you know he is very timid in new situations, Sammy however is a social butterfly...

On Monday, I went to the opening assembly with the boys. Sammy went right to his class once I got a worker to hold his hand and take him. Then, I went with Zack to his first activity- story time. Then I left him to help get the crafts ready. He comes to crafts at the end of the day, so it works out great. He made it through most of the activities until the recreation crew decided to do indoor activities-- Zack was not too impressed and cried when his teacher left. So she brought him to me. I took him back to recreation to evaluate the situation and knew it would be pointless to try to get him to stay. So he came back to class with me. I talked to some folks about letting the kids go out to the playground for recreation ( our last class the 4's and 5's were really wound up!)

However, this morning upon getting ready to go. Zack announced "I do not like VBS- not one little bit!" "I'm gonna hide from you momma and you will not be able to find me."

Well, I think the fact that I had an appointment and he know I was going to leave prompted some of his reluctance. I did make it back to find both of my boys in the class room (during Zack's craft time). Apparently, Sammy started fussing about wanting me and the girl brought him directly to my class and left him with the other ladies!
Zack however, had made it through the day (all activities including Recreation-playing on the playground!) Just before Zack's class came in Gloria was walking Sammy back to his class when he saw Zack in the hall.. He just ran to Zack and hugged him. So he ended up sitting in the chair next to Zack and they worked on crafts together...

Gloria told me that after most of the kids had finished the craft she was asking them some of the First Catechism questions,
Q. Who made you? A. God (most knew)
But when she asked
Q. What else did God make?
Sammy was the only one who answered "All Things!" Way to go, Sammy.
Needless to say he shone in the 4's and 5's class.

I am happy to report that Zack had a much better day and our last group for crafts was much easier to handle. Mostly having to do with the playground being used!

I did get to have a hair appt today! I felt a little guilty, but I didn't intentionally plan it for VBS week. This was the last hair appt until baby # 3 comes and then some!

Rub-a-dub

In the sink! What fun!

here's some backyard wildlife

This is Daddy's plane a t-6

When we went to the park these are some pictures we took. Zack thought this cloud looked like an Eagle's wing, I thought it looked more like an angel's wing and a feather. What beauty.

Laundry

I have been doing laundry all afternoon. It seems I'm sort of behind. I didn't think there was that much until I asked T to bring the laundry to the laundry room for me. When it was all combined it ended up being more than I thought.

My laundry job has been made a little more interesting. 36 weeks pregnant tends to make the carrying laundry/ baskets a little uncomfortable. So I've been having to get help unloading the dryer and bringing clothes to the laundry room. I'm not looking for ways to solve this problem--I'm appreciating the extra help. I think that 36 weeks still doing the laundry is a feat in itself! (wink, wink)

The laundry rush is caused by the fact that I realized most of the boys clothes were dirty and it's going to be a long week VBS... so I guess I'm working with a deadline. No, not nesting!

oh, Boy

While washing the van the other day, the boys were "helping" me get all the supplies together. So I hand a bottle of car soap to Sammy to take to the van. I also gave them two of those plastic bottles one contained window wipes the other car interior wipes. Before I got the buckets of water to the van, Sammy decided to coat the back bumper of the van with the entire bottle of Turtle Wax soap! I am trying to get his attention to put the top back on. We had about 1 1/2 caps full left of the whole new bottle- we at least had enough- well we made due with what was left.
Then I notice that the boys are floating the plastic bottles of wipes in the bucketof water! I cannot imagine that water in either of those bottles can help the wipes do their job...
Eventually the boys helped clean the license plate and some of the bumper- yes where Sammy enjoyed pouring the soap!

Oh, and to top it off. You know boys and water/puddles...well, the excess water that pooled around the clean van, well, I bet you can guess... I find them jumping into them and dirty water is splashing the van with all sorts of filth!

Well, I guess that's the sort of thing I should cherish! At the time it's quite frustrating, but looking back, there will be a day that Zack and Sammy will be out there trying to wash a vehicle and maybe their little brother will be the one causing them frustration. Who wouldn't have fun splashing in puddles--maybe next time I'll make some puddles for them to jump around in while I wash the car.

Airplanes

I'm 36 weeks today! I keep thinking that I'll be pregnant forever. It just doesn't seem possible to go back to the newborn stage at this point. I was watching Sammy as he carried his lunch bag while climbing the stairs all by himself into the house. And it hit me that he is growing up so fast. He is still in diapers, but otherwise, he is so independent. I guess in two more years I'll be back to this stage, (maybe not pregnant?):-)

Zack and Sammy and I went to church today to help decorate the craft "gate" for VBS. I am hoping that Zack is a little more prepared and accustomed to being with kids and playing etc. since we were there most of the morning. The theme is an airport and planes. So Zack is very excited. We have 4 moms in our craft section. Our combined 9 kids mostly 5-2yrs and the 4 moms decorated the room and then cleaned after we left! Two of us are pregnant.

It was an interesting morning, but I think our room is pretty cool. Cool enough for preK-2nd grade. I'll have to get a picture to post at some point.

Airplanes make the day better

We made it out of the house and Zack took his binoculars to look at airplanes. We had a nice time getting out then came home and made a pizza. So after a "How it's Made" episode, and a few books we are turning in for a nap. Sammy was very adamant that he would not take a nap(which means he's probably out), Zack will rest and I will definitely nap. Then we may wash the van, but will definitely fill the pool.

Blue

Well, the boys and I are pretty bummed today. I'm trying to wrack my brains on a fun outing. We need to get out and do something fun. The baby pool is still closed apparently it should be fixed today, just in time or us to be busy with VBS. The Farmer's Market will close in a few min (10 am). We'll probably end up at the base park and watch airplanes take off and land. They love that. We wave to Daddy's planes and say " That could be Daddy up there" and watch for something that would mark the time (so we can ask Daddy if he was flying then). It's so hot that going outside to the van takes all my energy...
Well, if we're gonna do something I'd better go! Have a good day.

upgrade on the sippy cup

The boys are loving their new coolster tumblers... Although theirs are just a solid blue and green. Zack calls it his coffee cup...just like daddy's. Hey, they are spill proof, wonder if T would go for it? Probably not!

our week

We are doing well. T is just about to finish up his last? (well maybe) flight of students. They should be finished with their check rides by next Monday. His flight alone has been flying 18-20 flights per day and will continue on that break neck speed until all the students take their check rides. That translates into 3 flying periods per day. Most instructors are flying 3 times a day. T's replacement is in San Antonio, hopefully to return soon and then T's responsibilities should be minimal. Right now we are getting ready for VBS. The boys both have a class and I am going to be helping with the crafts for little kids. We have a really fun group of craft gals, so it should be fun.

I am 36 weeks this Friday so am getting down to the last little bit. I have been feeling pretty tired, but all in all, it's flown by. Next Thursday I have a doc appt then it's every week till his birth.

I went to the store today with the boys and Zack wanted Chicken wings for dinner. So that's what's on the menu for tonight.

We finally got some much needed rain yesterday, it rained almost all day. Our phone went out, as usual, the phone company cannot seem to fix the problem permanently. So we are looking at some different options for phone/internet. T will be depending greatly on the internet when he gets out of the AF so, we need to have something more dependable. He is going to be doing some programming and flying for the Reserves here. He'll go on terminal leave end of July or early Aug (depending on when the baby comes). So he'll see how much programming work will provide while on terminal leave. We are looking forward to the transition... God has provided for us and will continue.

picts

Here are the picts of our trip to the wedding in San Antonio. The time has really seemed to go by quickly. On Friday I'll be 35 weeks and a baby is in our near future. I've been taking the boys to the pool for the last two weeks- the baby pool that is, and they have been having a blast. Today we got ready and when we got there we found out that the baby pool was closed, seems they are working on it and don't know when it will be fixed. Sammy was in tears. Zack took the disappointment well.
So we went to K-mart to buy some water guns I thought that would be a pretty good trade off for the pool, which will be closed for who knows how long! (we also found some more Matchbox airplanes-the last ones on the shelf and we didn't have those either) and a hot dog. K-mart "snack mart" hot dogs, I wouldn't have touched one of those with a ten foot pole before I had kids- but it's amazing what things change when you have kids! The boys had fun and then we had fun in the water at home with the water guns.

rehearsal

The introduction to the "pillow"

Let's practice informally (daddy is sitting in his seat with a dollar bill waving in the air) all he has to do is walk directly to daddy in the front row to claim the prize!
He gives us some hope of completing his task, but once the "formal" rehearsal starts nothing will entice him away from Daddy.
Breaking the news with the bride's family... He is not going to be very cooperative... but who knows what a new Matchbox airplane will do? We will see...

As long as Daddy is there, Zack will do whatever. But he's just not ready to do it himself with all these people he doesn't know. Now Sammy on the other hand- he might have.

The Ringbearer

Apparently, Zack thought they needed a little weed eating done before the wedding. Yes, the flower girl kept asking him why he was picking up sticks and rocks. Sammy was befuddled when she threw a rock that he had given her. GIRLS! They just don't understand....

The result

This is how it went down.... Zack told us he would not carry that pillow, but he would walk with Daddy. So Zack had a military escort down the isle... Sorry the pict is not angled right...
